Video Entry Requirements

We want you to have the best possible chance of winning, so please read the category descriptions and entry requirements carefully. Your online entry information must be complete.

All Video entries must be submitted on videotape - we accept NTSC Beta SP or NTSC Digital Beta videotapes only!

IMPORTANT!!

  • ALL YOUR VIDEO ENTRIES MAY BE SUBMITTED ON A SINGLE TAPE IF SPACE ALLOWS

  • DO NOT BUILD YOUR TAPE UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE ENTERED ALL THE INFORMATION ONLINE!

  • PLEASE PREPARE YOUR TAPES CAREFULLY BY FOLLOWING THE RULES BELOW:

    • Entries with missing or incorrect time codes will be disqualified

    • You must complete all your entries information online first

    • Print out the Tape Worksheet from the online system

    • Edit your tape and keep track of your time codes on the Tape Worksheet.

    • Return to the online entry system and key-in your time codes. 

    • Proceed to payment once all the time codes have been entered.

    • You cannot modify any information once payment has been processed.
       

  • All entries for video and scenic categories must be submitted in 4:3 format  (Please note: If your original screen aspect ratio is 16:9 you must submit your entries letterboxed for 4:3 format) on a cued-to-slate NTSC Beta SP or NTSC Digital Beta videotape. All cassette boxes and tapes must be labeled with the entry information label that you will be able to print after you have processed the payment of your entries. Please complete all information for your entries (including time codes) before you process payment. Once payment has been processed you cannot modify any information.
     

  • Translations

All non-English language entries must provide English subtitles for judging
        purposes.

Please see the “Online Entry Instructions” section for detailed guidelines on “Time Codes” and “How to Build Your Tape.”

SLATES:

All entries must be slated. Slate information must include:

Entry # (provided by the entry system)
Entry Name/Title (as entered in the system)
Category # and Category Name (as shown in the system)
Submitting Company (as entered in the system)

The tape layout should be as follows: 

  • Each tape should begin with 10 seconds of color bars and tones

  • Each video entry must begin with 5 seconds of black, plus 5 seconds of slate, and end with 5 seconds black

  • If a video entry contains more than one spot (for campaign categories,) add 5 seconds of black between spots

Examples:

  • Single Spot Entry:

Begin tape with 10 seconds of color bars and tones (only at the beginning of tape)
5 Seconds Black
5 Seconds Slate

  • Campaign Entry with 3 Spots:

Begin tape with 10 seconds of color bars and tones (only at the beginning of tape)

TIME CODES

Important:

  • A complete and accurate time code must be completed for each entry through the online system.

  • The “in” time code must begin with the first frame of each slate

  • The “out” time code must be the first frame of black at the end of each entry

  • This is critical to preparing your entries for judging

  • Inaccurate logs will negatively affect the quality and completeness of the work viewed by the judges.

  • If your original screen aspect ratio is 16:9 you must submit your entries letterboxed for 4:3 format.

  • All time codes must be entered in the online system before payment is made.

Single entry still graphics, if applicable, should be displayed for approximately 10 seconds. We encourage the use of existing audio in your entry submission. Entrant must obtain rights.

Make sure that your video and audio are of good quality.

We are unable to accept tapes in PAL format. Only NTSC Beta SP or NTSC Digital Beta videotapes will be accepted.

Attach an Online Entry Label (provided by the online entry system) to the tape cassette case prior to shipping. 

IMPORTANT: You will be able to print the Entry ID Labels for all your items once you have processed the payment for all your entries. Please refer to the “Printing Labels” guidelines in the “Online Entry Instructions” section.

Please remember that all entry information should be completed BEFORE you process your payment. Once the payment is processed you will not be able to modify any entry information. 

Entry ID Label information will include:

Entry # (provided by the entry system)
Entry Name/Title (as entered in the system)

Category # and Category Name (as shown in the system)
Submitting Company (as entered in the system)

Important Note: Any piece may be entered in more than one category provided the entry meets all the requirements of that particular category. A separate entry fee is required for each category entered. Please read the “Copying an Existing Entry to Another Category” guidelines in the “Online Entry Instructions” section.

If you are paying by check, please include the check with your entries in a well-marked envelope. All payments must be received prior to judging. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

Please number shipments of multiple boxes (1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.) on the outside of each box of the shipment

Please Note: All submissions become the property of MI6 to be used at their discretion. All relevant permissions and copyrights are assumed to be cleared by the entrant.
